Core Subjects - Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
The children have access to an extensive network of computers and other learning technologies. Our computer room is equipped with a suite of 11 networked workstations where children can undertake group computer-based activities and further computers are networked to each classroom or quiet room with an extra suite of computers located in the library.
Internet access - as an educational resource (strictly controlled in accordance with Local Authority guidelines) - is available to all pupils and all our children have their own email address. The use of computers is carefully monitored and the school has a working On-line Acceptable Use Policy which children and adults are expected to comply with.
All children learn to use a word processor, paint programmes, data handling packages, simulations programs and control. Teachers may also set homework via the secure (logged in) area of the school website and from time to time children will take part in online communication in the form of blogs, forums and online questionnaires. The children may also access curriculum resources through the Worcestershire Learning Gateway (provided by Worcestershire County Council). Educational sites are a valuable resource and can be accessed at home via a “Global ID” which will be issued to each child at a relevant time after starting school. All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards.
