This week we have been learning to add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to words ending in ‘y’.

The rule: When writing the plural of a noun ending in ‘y’, we take away the ‘y’ and replace it with ‘ies’.

 

However, there are some exceptions to this rule: when the word has a vowel (a, e, i, o, u) before the letter 'y', you just add the letter 's' - e.g. key, monkey, boy
