Autumn Term

A Magical Start to Year 1

We have had a fantastic and exciting start to the school year! It has been wonderful getting to know the children and helping them settle into Year 1.

Throughout this half term, the children have been exploring The Magical Tree and embarking on lots of exciting adventures. They have received plenty of challenges from Silky, which have encouraged them to use their imagination, develop their problem solving skills and work together. The children also had a very special visit from Saucepan Man, which brought even more excitement to our learning!

Stay, Play and Learn

The children received a letter from Silky the Fairy, who had some sad news to share. The leaves were beginning to fall from the Magical Tree, which meant it was starting to lose its magic! Silky asked the children to design and make a magical creation to hang on the tree and help bring its magic back.

The children rose to the challenge and invited their loved ones into school to support them with their designs. Together, they explored and practised a range of practical skills, including sewing, cutting and joining, to bring their wonderful magical creations to life.

It was lovely to welcome the children’s loved ones into our Year 1 classroom and see them fully immerse themselves in our learning journey. The children were so proud to share their ideas, develop their skills and work alongside their families to help restore the magic of our tree!
