    Curriculum Statement

At Lyppard Grange Primary School, we are proud to deliver an ambitious curriculum built upon the framework of the National Curriculum. Thoughtfully designed, it aims to empower children and prepare them for an ever-evolving world.

Our primary aim is to equip children with the core knowledge and essential skills they need to be Secure, Engaged, and Equipped for life (SEE). By fostering these foundations, we ensure every child has the confidence and capability to thrive in a rapidly changing future.

We take a thematic approach to learning, expertly weaving subjects into engaging themes. This enables children to see connections across disciplines, enriching their understanding and mastery of key concepts. Each lesson is carefully crafted to nurture our school’s core learning values: curiosity, adaptability, perseverance, courage, teamwork, communication, and independence.

Our curriculum not only builds academic excellence but also promotes the development of well-rounded individuals who are prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead. To explore the breadth of opportunities each subject provides, we invite you to visit our individual subject pages for more detail.

In all classes, much of the work is built around a planned theme, which may be the focus of a half-term’s work and incorporate several subject areas. This cross-curricular approach allows a more coherent and integrated system of teaching and learning to take place. However, there are many instances where certain aspects of a subject do not fall conveniently under a theme and these elements are taught discretely.

Regardless of theme, our curriculum has clear progression and continuity, ensuring children learn subject specific knowledge, skills and understanding. It is our fervent aim to ensure that they have the opportunity to begin to develop towards being competent and confident artists, geographers, historians, designers, musicians, sportsmen and sportswomen, mathematicians, readers and authors.
