REMINDER - Friday 17th July is the last day of term. There will be no Congratulations Assemblies on this day. School is closed on Monday 20th July for a Professional Development Day. School reopens to children on THURSDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER following two Professional Development Days on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd September. Term dates for 2026/27 were sent by email on 11th June.

 

Meet the Team - Monday 6th July 3:30-400pm

Annual reports were sent home with your child/ren on Friday. These contained a letter informing you of your child's class for next year. There will be an opportunity to meet your child’s new teaching team during our ‘Meet the Team’ drop-in session on Monday 6th July from 3.30pm to 4.00pm. This is an informal session which provides you with the opportunity to locate your child’s new classroom and meet their new teacher(s) and teaching assistant(s). There is no formal presentation. Workshops for each year group will take place in the Autumn Term.

 

Discos

Our 'End of Year' discos are due to take place on Thursday 9th July:

• EYFS & Y1 - 3:45pm - 4:45pm
• Y2 & Y3 - 5:00pm - 6:00pm
• Y4 & Y5 - 6:15pm - 7:15pm
• Y6 - 7:30pm - 8:30pm

The cost is £2 per child, payable in cash on the door; this includes crisps and a drink. All children must be collected at the end of the school day, but parents of children in EYFS and Y1 are invited to bring 'disco' clothes to school at 3:30pm to change children into before dropping them into the disco via the exterior hall doors. Please note, staff will not be available to do this for you as they will be preparing the disco. Y2-Y6 children need to return to school to enter the disco via the exterior hall doors at their allocated start time. Children in EYFS, Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 will be dismissed through their own classroom doors at the end of the event. Y5 will be dismissed from the Y2 exterior door. Year 6 will be dismissed from the hall exterior doors at the end of their event at 8:30pm. The Den will be open as usual. Children in EYFS, Y1, Y2 and Y3, attending the Den on this day, can change at The Den. Children in EYFS and Y1 can also return to The Den after their disco. We hope to see lots of the children there!

 

Staffing Update

As is often the case, there are some comings and goings amongst our staff team:

• Mrs Sally Griffith (Y3 teacher) continues to be absent from work due to her ongoing family situation, but is hoping to be able to rejoin the team in some capacity over the course of the next academic year, which is wonderful news. 
• Miss Becky Yapp will remain in post as Year 3 teacher but, in exciting news, will return as ‘Mrs Jones’, following her wedding this summer; I am sure you will join me in congratulating both Miss Yapp and her husband-to-be. 
• Miss Anna Joy (PPA teacher) leaves us at the end of this term to pursue her career as a play therapist; Miss Joy joined our permanent school team in September 2023, working with various year groups across the school. We wish her all the best in her new venture. 
• After joining Lyppard Grange in February 2006, Mrs Cathy Carrier has decided it is time to retire and enjoy spending more time with her husband (which is to include lots of travel); Mrs Carrier has been a consistently calm and nurturing member of our staff team and has had a huge impact on many children’s, and member of staff’s, lives – she will be very missed by us all. 
• You may, or may not, have noticed, but Miss Amy Graver (our Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) will also be leaving the team for a while as she commences her maternity leave, with her first baby due to arrive in September. I'm sure you will join me in sending our congratulations to Miss Graver and her partner. 
• Mrs Jill McDonnell, who is part of our cleaning team, also retires at the end of this year, after four years with us. 

Our teaching line-up for 2026/27 was included in your child's annual report, however there was one error - Mrs Blackwood will be based in Year 2, not Year 3. We do still have a few vacancies: 

• Temporary Full Time Year 5 Teaching Assistant (27.5 hours per week)
• Temporary Full Time (Maternity Cover) Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (35 hours per week)
• Permanent Lunchtime Supervisor - 10 hours per week (11:45am - 1:45pm daily)
• Permanent Lunchtime Supervisor - 3 hours per week (12noon - 1:30pm Monday and Friday)
• Permanent Cleaner - 12.5 hours per week (3:30pm - 6.00pm daily)
• Permanent Cleaner - 6 hours per week (3.00pm - 6.00pm Monday and Friday)

Details of these vacancies will be posted on our school website over the next few days so keep your eyes open if you, or someone you know, would be interested in joining our team. Any of the roles above can be applied for in conjunction with the other advertised vacancies. For further information, please pop into the office and someone will be happy to talk to you about the roles.

Parent Governor Vacancies

From September, we will have two vacancies for parents to join our Governing Body in the role of Parent Governor. Joining the Governing Body is an exciting and rewarding role. Training and support are provided, therefore experience is not essential, however, passionate parents who share our vision to ‘empower children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life’ are welcome to apply. Further details will be sent in a separate email in the new term to enable our new EYFS parents the opportunity to stand for election as well. If you are interested in this opportunity, Lee Houghton (Chair of the Governing Body) and Alan Hughes (Co-opted Governor) will be available to answer questions or have a chat at the front of school during our 'Meet the Team' session on Monday 6th July.

 

Summer Break Support

In the absence of holiday food vouchers, there is a new scheme called the Crisis and Resilience Fund which is available to help people facing financial crisis. Help is also still available through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme which is running through the Summer school holidays, providing free activities and food for families who are eligible for Free School Meals: www.worcestershire.gov.uk/HAF. If you find yourself in a position where you are unable to provide adequate meals for you and your children please contact the local foodbank - https://worcester.foodbank.org.uk/.

 

I am sure that I will see many of you before the end of term but may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very safe and happy summer.
