The Princess and the Pea Perfomance

On the 12th and 13th of March 2019 Year 2 performed their alternative version of The Princess and the Pea.  Keeping to the original tale for the first part of the play parents were then surprised that the tale took an unexpected twist when the Princess refused to be hurried into marrying a Prince. A humorous trial ensued where the ‘Picky Prince’ tried to prove his worth to the girl he wanted to marry. The audience were treated to an extravaganza of singing, dancing and acting. The children worked exceptionally hard to learn their lines and delivered them with great timing and superb expression.  Some popular songs with alterative lyrics were sung enthusiastically and it was clear the children were thoroughly enjoying themselves. The story was narrated by a talented group of readers whose voices were clear and fluent throughout the performance. The play was enhanced further by the skilful gymnastic and dance routines of the children. Alternative or not, it all ended well and they obviously lived ‘happily ever after!’
