The Lyppard Grange Primary School Empowering children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life.

Thursday

Focus Activity

During Forest School the children have been looking at the signs of autumn and winter and have also discussed what to look out for when spring and summer arrive! This morning we would like you to have a look at the slides all about seasons and see if you complete the seasons wheel.

Peg Activity - Writing

At school the children have been learning all about castles. We would like the children to choose a room in the castle and have go at writing about it. We have attached the link to Warwick Castle Virtual Tour if your child would prefer to choose one of these rooms.

Lolly Activity -Maths

Please can you choose one of the pinwheels to complete. The children will need to use their knowledge of addition and subtraction to complete the number sentences. You can use a variety of resources to help support you child with this anything from Lego to counters is excellent - anything they can count! If you child chooses to complete these using a number line, please can you make sure the children are jumping on top of the number line for addition and underneath the line for subtraction. We have attached a number line to support your child with this.

Phonics - Focus Activity

Have a look at the phoneme spotter below and see if you can work out the sound we are learning this week. During the teams meeting your child's class teacher has read this to them, if you could re-read it to them that would be great. Encourage your child to underline the words with the /ear/ sound and see if they can work out the different ways to write it. Be careful, there might be a couple of exceptions to the rule!

Extra Activities

Have a go at making the castle and use the shape checklist to see how many shapes you have used.

See if you can sort the images into old and new

  • How do you know they are old?
  • How do you know they are new?
  • What is the same?
  • What is different?
