All children are entitled to a broad, balanced and rigorous curriculum. We have long-term plans in place, which ensure that all aspects of the National Curriculum and much more besides are reflected in the learning experiences offered.
In all classes, much of the work is built around a planned topic or theme, which may be the focus of a half-term’s work and incorporate several subject areas. This cross-curricular approach allows a more coherent and integrated system of teaching and learning to take place. However, there are many instances where certain aspects of a subject do not fall conveniently under a topic and these elements are taught discretely.
The curriculum content is organised into a two year rolling cycle of topics and themes, which ensure good coverage for all children.
