This term, Year 5 have been learning all about South America.
Our history focus has been about comparing the Maya and Viking civilisations. We have learnt some interesting facts about them, including their religious rituals, their assorted gods, their clothes and homes and ways of life.
In geography, we have learnt about the human and physical characteristics of different countries within South America. We've been fascinated by the diverse landmark features like the Igazu falls, Copa Cabana beach, blue lagoons and salt lakes.
Our main focus in reading has been to really understand vocabulary such as flora, fauna, environment, biodiversity, climate and cornucopia. We've been learning about the different biomes in South America, particularly deserts and the rainforest.
Our writing has been focused on non-chronological reports about specific biomes.
