Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Bags were sent home with your children this week. Just a reminder that bags will be collected on Wednesday 9th July at 9am. Please fill as many bags as you can to raise money for our school—black bags can be filled too if you run out of bags! Bags should be left in the portakabin on the day. This really is an amazingly good fund-raising venture which benefits all our children and as always, your support is much appreciated.
Please note that this time they are no longer collecting curtains and bedding as they have previously done.
You will most likely be aware that from September ALL EYFS and KS1 children are entitled to a free school meal. You will have received the hot lunch form as normal plus a yellow application form.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE NEED ONE YELLOW FORM COMPLETING FOR EVERY CHILD IN EYFS AND KEY STAGE 1 FROM SEPTEMBER 2014 REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU WISH TO TAKE UP THE OFFER OF A FREE SCHOOL MEAL AND EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT IN RECEIPT OF BENEFITS.
If you have mistakenly disposed of the form or not received a form please collect one from the office portakabin as soon as possible. We need all forms returned to school by FRIDAY 4th JULY at the latest. Thank you.
Year 3/4 ventured out this week. Thinktank was their destination where a day crammed full of hands-on exploration awaited them all. There was a hive of activity as children explored science and technology from the past, the present and the future, both inside and out-of-doors. The children explored all of the exhibitions, accessing the interactive learning opportunities well, and also took part in a workshop where they were responsible for programming a robot using a computer. The children were polite and well-behaved, and learned a huge amount as well as enjoying their day out. |
Our netball team travelled to Hallow Primary School this week and despite losing fairly comprehensively the girls all said it was one of their favourite games ever!
They all got on really well with the girls from Hallow and were really pleased by the fact that they didn’t gloat when they won.
As always, the LGPS girls played really well and we were really proud of them!
Adiós amigos! Hemos tenido un tiempo precioso con usted. Mantente en contacto (Goodbye friends! We've had a lovely time with you. Keep in touch.)
We only met our Spanish visitors on Tuesday, but after the first few moments of language barrier awkwardness the children began to communicate using English, Spanish, sign language and drawings and were soon interacting well. The children from Lyppard Grange introduced the children from Huesca to a typical day at school, whilst they looked startled by some of the big differences that faced them—lack of text books and an afternoon break being two of the biggest shocks!
On Wednesday our Y6 and the group from Spain headed for West Midlands Safari Park where lots of translating of animal names took place, but once on the rides the universal language of screaming and laughing needed no translation! A great day was had by all. A treasure hunt around Worcester on Thursday morning really saw the children beginning to interact—some of the Spanish children really impressed us with their ability to translate between members of the group, also allowing the staff from both schools to communicate well. The narrow boats on the river fascinated the group and the cathedral impressed. One child, Dario, said, “Our cathedral in Huesca is beautiful, but your cathedral is spectacular.” On returning to school the children worked in mixed groups on a project to include both languages and then ended the day with a traditional game of rounders followed by a fish and chip supper, before bidding our visitors a final farewell and a safe journey home.
