  • Proposed Conversion to Academy Status

    Fri 10 Feb 2017
he Governing Body of Lyppard Grange Primary School has applied for and been granted an Academy Order under the Academies Act 2010 to become an academy and is proposing to create and join The Villages’ Multi Academy Trust. In accordance with the requirements of the Academies Act 2010, the Governing Body is consulting on whether the school’s academy conversion should take place. Further information about what becoming an academy means, and how to comment on the proposals, is set out in our new 'Consultation' section and information was sent home by letter on 8th February (attached below).

As well as inviting written responses to the proposals, parents are invited to a ‘drop-in’ session to be held from 4.00pm to 7.00pm at school on Wednesday 1st March 2017. Members of the Governing Body and the Head teacher will be available to hear your comments. We are also holding meetings with our staff.

The closing date for representations to be made is 24th March 2017.

  • Safer Internet Day (SID) 2017

    Mon 06 Feb 2017
Safer Internet Day 2017 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 7th February. This year’s theme is ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’. This theme has been chosen as an empowering message to all internet users and young people to use the internet positively and safely, with consideration and respect for others.

The sub-theme for the UK is ‘The Power of Image’, focusing on the ways that we use images and videos online to communicate and share messages, to entertain and to learn.

It is becoming increasingly common for children and young people to communicate online using photos and videos. Many new social networks, apps and services have become popular with young people over the last few years because of the ease with which they allow users to create, edit and share their photos and videos.Sharing photos online can be an extremely positive and empowering experience for children and young people but it is important that they are aware of the potential risks that come with sharing images online; particularly images of themselves such as selfies.

Talking to your child about these risks, how they manage them and what to do if they are worried is key to supporting them to make positive choices and stay safe online. Our dedicated e-safety resources page for parents has many factsheets, guides and videos that are free to download, to help you to be informed and involved in your child's online (and real world) safety.
