  • "I've got a Golden Ticket ..."

    Fri 23 May 2014
...and how pleased we all were that we had! The Yr 3/4 performance of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ was marvellous. The acting was superb - every child embraced the character they had been given and remained in role from beginning to end, lines were learned by heart and clearly spoken as were stage directions. Dance routines, choreographed by the children, were in perfect time, and the singing, as usual, warmed the heart. It was a huge team effort with even the props and lighting being executed by children. Most notable, though, was the enjoyment oozing from the children. They brimmed with confidence and smiles which was a joy to behold. Comments from parents included, “...such talent...”, “...a great show...”, ...so clearly enjoying themselves...”, “...the confidence...it’s easy to forget they’re just 7, 8 and 9 years old.” A huge well done to every child! Thanks also to the staff for their hard work - performances like this don’t just happen but by making it part of the curriculum it evolved in just three short weeks. One parent said, “...the teachers haven’t just taught those children, they’ve inspired them!” Thank you also to the handful of parents who gave up their time to serve refreshments, sell raffle tickets, take tickets on the door and clear away after each performance. We are very grateful for your help.
  • One-Way System

    Fri 23 May 2014

Good News - The one way system is up and running again. The bad news is that some of you are still trying to fight against the tide! Please, please, please follow the one way system. It is in place to keep everyone safe and to avoid collisions. Our staff are doing their best to ensure this takes place and I am disappointed to hear that they are receiving ‘abuse’ when reminding you to follow the system. I know that it is frustrating to have to complete a lap of the school when a faster exit route is seemingly available but we cannot expect the children to do as we ask  in school when it is not modelled by their parents. If you have a problem with our one way system please make an appointment  to discuss this with Mr Jackson as it is totally unacceptable to abuse our staff.

Please note that we have now positioned staff at the front gate so that any child arriving after the second bell has rung at 8:55am can be escorted into school safely. As we have stated previously, classroom doors are locked immediately after the second bell, therefore if you are needing to speak to a teacher it is imperative that you  are at the classroom door between 8:45am and 8:55am. After this time the staff need to be with the children inside the building.

Again, we thank the majority for their co-operation .

  • URGENT REMINDER - Nuts & Kiwi

    Fri 23 May 2014
Due to having both children and staff in school with life-threatening allergies to nuts and kiwi-fruit we remind you that these are not permitted in school. This includes Nutella, peanut butter and fruit salad containing kiwi-fruit.
  • Loombands

    Fri 23 May 2014

We have received some queries about our policy on loombands. After half term we request that these not be made or worn in school.

    Thank you.

  • Lyppard Hits London

    Fri 23 May 2014

The Y5/6 children and accompanying staff have returned tired yet buzzing with the excitement of their residential visit. A fantastic time was had by all as they visited museums and the Royal Observatory, rode on the London Eye, took in the sights by bus and boat, went to a West End show and visited the Houses of Parliament. The Twitter updates kept us all informed and parents of those on the visit enjoyed following the activities day-by-day and hour-by-hour. Staff report that the children behaved well, ate well, slept well and travelled well and were a credit to the school. I’m sure you have heard lots about their antics and adventures already but look out for some photos due to appear on the website soon.

To follow up the visit, Robin Walker, the Member of Parliament for the Worcester constituency, visited the Y5/6 children at school today for a ‘Question and Answer’ session.

  • Building Work Update

    Fri 16 May 2014

It’s full steam ahead as the deadline approaches! Roofs have been started on both the hall and the lower section of the new block and the offices are now beginning to take shape at the front of the school. We apologise for the short-term closure of the one-way system and thank you for your co-operation and collaboration in ensuring everyone got onto and off the school site safely and swiftly. The reason for the closure is to allow the builders to improve the surface of the exit route from school. Whilst we appreciate that the school now looks like a building site on all four sides we wish to reassure you that once inside the building life goes on as usual with very little disruption to the children’s learning.
