  • "And the winner is ..."

    Fri 19 Sep 2014
Mr Jackson, Mrs Thorp and Miss Mesher represented the school at the ’City of Worcester Sports Awards 2014’ at Worcester Arena on Thursday 18th September.  It is an event held annually by Sport Worcester and Worcester City Council to celebrate and recognise local sporting success. The awards were presented by Steve Cram MBE, who became famous for his athletic ability but is now best known as one of the BBC’s most respected presenters and commentators. Amongst those presented were Senior and Junior Male and Female Sports Person of the Year awards, awards for coaches, volunteers, clubs and teams, and we are very pleased to announce that not only were we nominated and shortlisted for the ‘Award for Most Improved School’ but also won it. This is in recognition of all of the coaches that we recruited to train the children in a variety of sports, ranging from tri-golf to gymnastics, and multi-skills to athletics. We were commended on the behaviour and enthusiasm of the children and the leadership of the staff team all of which had improved sporting standards and attitudes at the school. Well done to you all!
  • Building Update ... Nearly There!

    Fri 19 Sep 2014
It is very evident to all of us in and around school that the building works are in their very final stages and the project manager, contractor and architect all agree. We are hopeful that handover of all the new spaces will take place by the end of next week (or the following Monday 29th at the latest). Obviously, the contractors will then need to deconstruct their compound and remove fences etc. and we will begin the task of taking occupation. But the end is in sight and we will all soon be benefiting from our lovely new areas.

If you have a child born between 1st September 2010 and 31st August 2011 you need to apply for a school place by 15th JANUARY 2015.

The deadline for high school applications for those starting in September 2015 is 31st OCTOBER 2014.

Visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions for more information and to apply.

  • Hot Lunches

    Fri 19 Sep 2014

We are now serving over 1000 hot lunches a week, which is fantastic. Even without the use of the hall, children are eating calmly and sensibly in their classrooms, served by staff waiters and waitresses. It would be really useful if you could have a quick look at the menu with your child each morning to remind them of their choices as there are times when a child is adamant they have chosen one option when our records say something else.

To help you with this, please find the dates which relate to each week of the menu below:

    WEEK 1—w/c 1/9/14, 22/9/14, 13/10/14

    WEEK 2– w/c 8/9/14, 29/9/14, 20/10/14

    WEEK 3—w/c 15/9/14, 6/10/14

Copies of the menus are displayed on the noticeboards in the EYFS playground and the back playgroun

  • Congratulations Assemblies

    Fri 12 Sep 2014
Our Congratulations assemblies will begin again once we have full use of the hall. In the meantime we are continuing to issue stars for good behaviour and gold awards for achievement. Our other daily assemblies are currently being delivered in classrooms to phase groups.
  • Planned Absences During Term Time

    Fri 12 Sep 2014

We wish to remind you that schools are no longer able to authorise any planned absences other than those due to exceptional circumstances. This does not include holidays, weddings, christenings or overseas visits.

A statistic for you— if your child has an average attendance rate of 90%, by the time they finish Y6 they will have missed over two-thirds of an academic year!

In the unlikely event that you wish to make an application for a term-time absence, forms and guidance information can be collected from the office staff. May we remind you that all requests must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the planned absence taking place.

  • Workshops for Parents

    Fri 12 Sep 2014

This year every teaching team will be offering a set of workshops for parents. Staff will share information about what your children will be learning this year, how they will be taught and what you can do to support their learning at home.  They will take place at  6pm.

EYFS Tuesday 30th September or Wednesday 1st October

    Y1 Wednesday 15th October

    Y2 Wednesday 8th October

    Y3/4 Wednesday 24th September

Y5/6 TBC as we are hoping to include a visit to the new block

Look out for invitations which will be sent home with your child. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

  • Welcome Back!

    Thu 04 Sep 2014
Welcome back to a new school year and a particularly warm welcome to all those joining our school community for the first time.
We are all looking forward to an exciting year ahead and teachers have been busy preparing all sorts of interesting and engaging learning opportunities for the children.

Unfortunately the builders are still on site and the building work is not quite yet finished. The contractors are continuing to work on all fronts – the new classroom block, the hall, the offices and the staffroom – and although not finished, all the new spaces already look great.

The ‘one way’ system that was in place last term for dropping off and collecting children is suspended as the contractors begin to take up their own haul road and relay the tarmac and reinstate the borders. There are quite obviously some pinch points and bottlenecks as you come and go around the outside of the building. To ease this we are continuing to offer the drop off system from 8:45am.
