  • Changes to School Lunches

    Tue 27 Sep 2016
    With effect from Monday 31st October 2016, we will be using a new catering supplier to provide our school meals.  Aspens is a Worcester-based education catering specialist that provides healthy eating options and allows you, the parent, to continue to be involved with the food choices your child is making at school.

    Regardless of whether you pay for your child’s meal or if they are entitled to free school meals (either UIFSM (if your child is in Early Years, Y1 or Y2 and entitled to a government funded free lunch each day) or FSM (which is income-based and attracts extra funding to school through Pupil Premium payments), a menu selection needs to be made.  Food allergies and intolerances will be better catered for and where necessary parents will have the opportunity to meet with the caterers to discuss needs.

    Parents will order online via Aspens own website (this will be linked to our school website) and where applicable payment will be made by crediting your child’s account using Pay Pal.  Discounted rates have been negotiated on your behalf – 20 meals for the price of 19 and 30 meals for the price of 27.  We have also secured a price reduction for you as meals will now cost £2.00 each not the current £2.10 charged by Megabite.

    Other benefits include:

    ·         Changes to your child’s order may be made up until 9.00 am on the day (via Aspens website) this includes changes to menu selection and cancelling meals due to illness.  Any cancellations received by Aspens in the specified time will be added as a credit to your child’s spend account;

    ·         Puddings will be chosen by the child on the day (except in cases of allergies/intolerances) and do not need to be booked when choosing your meal selection;

    ·         The introduction of a salad bar from which children may make a selection to enhance their chosen meal;

    ·         Discounted rates e.g buy 20 meals pay for 19 or buy 30 and pay for only 27!

    ·         New menus will be loaded on line for the start of each term;

    ·         The new facility will allow parents to order single days, weekly, monthly, half-termly or termly.

    Below is a flyer from Aspens with some background information on what they offer together with a You-Tube tutorial link.  Further, more detailed information will be sent from us shortly to help you with the ordering process.

  • A Spectacular Parade!

    Fri 16 Sep 2016

    You really did celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday in style! A huge variety of hats were worn with pride on Tuesday, showcasing the superb imagination and creativity we have within our Lyppard Grange community. From Fantastic Mr Fox to The Enormous Crocodile, and The Witches to The Twits, Roald Dahl titles surrounded us in artistic form but it was definitely Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that had inspired the most designs with sweets cladding hats from room to room! Reverend Diane led both of our assemblies linking the theme of decisions to those made by the golden ticket holders visiting Willy Wonka’s factory.

    We took lots of photos on the day but would love to display some of your hats in our school library. If you still have yours at home and would be willing to lend it to us for a while please send it back into school via your child’s class teacher. Thank you! In the meantime a selection of photos from the day can be seen on page 2 of our electronic newsletter dated week commencing 19th September (edition 2).

  • It's open!

    Fri 16 Sep 2016
    I’m sure you can’t have missed it as you’ve journeyed in and out of school but we are thrilled to be able to tell you that our new Early Years Foundation Stage Outdoor Classroom is now finished and in full use by our new intake. Complete with a stage, fixed musical instruments, climbing areas, underground homes, chalk boards and an easel, a climb-in sand tray and a story-telling toadstool circle; it is filled with activities for the children to take part in as well as initiating their own using the resources and equipment available. They have already been out having fun in it this week and are using it very sensibly as a classroom rather than a playground. The astroturf will allow the space to be used all year round which, I’m sure you will agree, is a great addition to our Early Years’ provision and will provide many years of learning opportunities for children both now and in the future.
