  • “Sparkle and Shine”

    Mon 30 Nov 2015

This wasn’t just one of the songs that they sang, it was what our Key Stage 2 choir did when they performed on the main stage at the Worcester Victorian Fayre on Thursday evening. Fifty children represented the school and wowed crowds with their beautiful singing, confident performance and impeccable behaviour. The harmonies were perfect and the two soloists did themselves proud as their voices rang out over the microphones, filling the streets around the stage. Parents and families clapped along to the lively numbers and shed tears of pride to the gentler songs, but members of the public also passed on their comments about the magic the children of Lyppard Grange had brought to their Christmas.  We were incredibly proud of them all and look forward to hearing them sing again when they visit Perry Manor Care Home, St Richard’s Hospice and Tesco over the next few weeks.

  • Football News

    Mon 30 Nov 2015
In their first league encounter of the season, the School football team faced a well organised Pitmaston Primary School on a very cold evening last week. Lyppard Grange stood strong against continued pressure from Pitmaston, avoided conceding a goal and went into the half time break deservedly on level terms. As the light faded rapidly in the second half so too did Lyppard's resilience, and Pitmaston scored twice in quick succession. Lyppard struggled to recover from these early strikes and Pitmaston bagged a further two goals to win the game 4-0. As they prepare for their next match, against Nunnery Wood in a week's time, Lyppard Grange will look to maintain the quality they show in the first half of each game, for the full 40 minutes. Despite the defeat, all concerned should be proud of their energy, effort and sportsmanship.
  • Forest School Plea

    Mon 30 Nov 2015

As the weather becomes increasingly wetter and colder please ensure that your children are dressed suitably for Forest School. It is essential that they have wellies, extra socks, additional layers and waterproof outers. We are also in need of firewood and wool if you have any spare. Thank you.

  • A big 'thank you' from Pudsey

    Fri 20 Nov 2015
Your loose change  donations totalled £285.55, all of which has gone directly to Children in Need. Thank you everyone!
  • 'Because it's Christmas...'

    Fri 20 Nov 2015
The Christmas cards designed by children either at the workshop or at home have now all been produced and returned to school. You should now have received everything you ordered. We hope you are pleased with them. We think they look great and are of a very high quality. Your participation in this has raised £158.60 for the school which will be used to purchase new arts and craft materials and resources for children to use in school.
  • "What a great night!"

    Fri 20 Nov 2015

“Best fireworks we’ve seen…”, “Love the music as part of the display…”, “Lovely atmosphere…”, “Great value…”, “Loving all the things on offer at great prices…”, “We’ve had a lovely family evening out…”, “Isn’t it lovely to have the Nunnery Wood High School children here…”, “Will you be doing it again next year? Can’t wait!”

Your comments say it all! It was a great evening last Saturday when you came in your hundreds to support our fireworks event. There was a wonderful atmosphere as the whole school community gathered together for an evening of fireworks, music, food, drink and friendship. We’d like to say a huge “Thank you” to everyone who attended for making it a really great occasion but a particularly huge 'thank you' goes out to all of the parents, grandparents, children and staff who worked incredibly hard either before, during or after the event. We couldn’t have done it without you - you know who you are! All proceeds made from this event will go directly back into resources and activities for the children in school.

And in answer to your questions, “Yes. We do hope to hold this as an annual event so we’ll see you there next year!”

  • Year 2 visit the Wyre Forest

    Fri 20 Nov 2015
Our Year 2 children ventured out into the Wyre Forest on Thursday as part of some investigations they are carrying out in class. Since returning from their half term break there have been some rather unusual goings-on in their classrooms—leaves, twigs and other such objects keep appearing overnight and there have now been some sightings of small footprints. Mr Jackson has visited them to have words about the state of their rooms and they have written letters of protest to him in order to prove their innocence. Their visit yesterday was to see if they could discover something about the woodland creatures who may be inhabiting our school . Over the course of the day they looked for signs of animals - using footprints and poo as clues, found out what animals eat in the forest, where they live and which animals hibernate. The children particularly loved building their own habitats for mice and burying conkers like a squirrel storing away food for the winter.  Let’s hope their day in the forest has given them all of the information they need!
  • Congratulations Assemblies: A Couple of Changes

    Fri 20 Nov 2015

Please note that Friday 27th November will be our last Congratulations Assemblies of the Autumn term. This is because we will be recording our CD on Friday 4th December,  our Carol Service at Woodgreen Evangelical Church takes place on Friday 11th December and it’s party day at school on Friday 18th December. Our first Congratulations Assemblies for 2016 will commence on Friday 15th January.

It has been decided that, although we love seeing everything children have achieved out of school, this will now be celebrated purely via the newsletter, and our assemblies will focus on all things achieved by children in school. Every child will still have their moment to shine as the ‘pupil of the week’ during which they will now be presented with their ‘Lyppard Grange’ prize by their own class teacher. Gold awards will continue to be presented as part of our assemblies and you will continue to receive a note informing you of your child’s participation in these assemblies to ensure you don’t miss their special moment.

  • What a show!

    Fri 13 Nov 2015
Our Year 1 children put on a super performance this week. It was a retelling of the film ‘Cars’, a story they have been studying as part of their Toys theme. There was lively singing, well learned dancing, the costumes were super, and the acting really stood out. Many of these children are just 5 years old but had learned all of their lines by heart. What was also really lovely to see was the enjoyment oozing from the children as they performed.
  • “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

    Fri 13 Nov 2015
The children looked fantastic today as they portrayed themselves as their future ambitions to raise money for Children in Need. Police officers, nurses, vets, firefighters and detectives were among the array of costumes on show. We wonder how many of them will have been fulfilled in 20 years time?
