At Lyppard Grange we use a CPA (Concrete, Pictorial Abstract) approach to teaching Mathematics. This approach is not progressive - each element should be used alongside the others until the children have reached sufficient confidence in their understanding and fluency. A CPA approach should be used for all children no matter what their proficiency in the subject.
The Calculation policy is now merged with the CPA policy to provide a consistent approach for those leading the learning and those involved in the learning.
