The Lyppard Grange Primary School Empowering children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life.

Tuesday 26th January 2021

Your should practise your times tables for 30 minutes.

Forest School

In school this morning the children will be taking part in Forest school.

It is important for our mental and physical health and well-being that we spend quality time outside. At some point today try to go for walk and get some fresh air. You might  like to try to find some more items from last week's scavenger hunt or there are some more ideas below.

As we know from our story, Ivan is making his way through some very dangerous woods to find his brother, who has been taken by Starjik.

In art we have been learning the skills we will need to help us to create a detailed portrait of Starjik. In this Forest School session we would like you to go out and about and collect things that you can then use to create a nature portrait of either Starjik or Ivan, or both. You could use leaves, twigs, pine cones, acorns, stones or anything else that you can find.

There are some images below to give you inspiration.

Faces from nature

Another idea might be to take part in the RSPBs Big Garden Birdwatch, the details below. Officially this doesn't start until the 29th January but if you are a keen birdwatcher than you might like to take part, even if just to see which birds you have visiting your garden.

The RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch is the world's biggest garden wildlife survey.

It regularly attracts almost half a million participants who spend an hour counting the birds that visit their gardens.

The records  provide a vital snapshot of the UK’s birds each winter so the RSPB can monitor trends and find out how our garden birds are doing.

The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch 2021 will take place over three days from the 29th to the 31st January.

Maths

This lesson should last about an hour.

Today we are going to continue to work with money and finding change. We are going to try to complete some reasoning questions.

Watch the lesson Video (Maths - Money Day 7) - taking part where it asks you to. Then complete the tasks below.

Real life experience is the best way to learn about money - so use your shop, or change it to a restaurant,  from last week and try to give your customers the correct change!

Theme - Character description

Today we will be looking at the second part of the Snow Queen's character description.  Watch the video on the Video Resource Centre called 'The Snow Queen Part 2 Tuesday'. Once you have watched the video, as yesterday, create a key using the features from the boxed success criteria and highlight as many of these features as you can in the character description.
