This week we have been learning to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1,000. We have been primarily learning how to do this by finding the multiple of 10, 100 or 1,000 that came before and the one that would come after. We have then been labelling the midpoint and drawing on our number. We then decided which multiple our number was closest to. If our number is exactly between the two numbers, it rounds to the next multiple up.
For homework, we would like children to consolidate their learning on rounding by completing the activity sheet. We found that children did well when only rounding to the nearest 10, 100 or 1,000 in separate lessons, but when we jumbled them up a little more, they found it more of a challenge.
Miss Bevand's class were the winners of our very first tournament! Well done to everyone who played and added to their class' total. Well done Miss Bevand's class for your win!
We have set up another tournament for this week. Will Miss Bevand's class remain victorious or will Mrs Johnson's class take the lead? Make sure you spend some time every day practising your tables.
