The children have made a fabulous start to Year 2 and are thoroughly enjoying our theme ‘Curious Creations and Ingenious Inventions’. As part of their learning, they were given challenges by Iggy Peck – an architect whom they had been introduced to in Whole Class Reading.
Iggy set children a challenge of designing, building and testing bridges. After evaluating existing bridges and testing different materials to see which would be the best for making their bridges, we then enlisted the help of parents and had a fun and productive afternoon creating structures. The next day children tested the bridges to see if the toy car could pass across them. They then evaluated their bridges by stating one thing that was good about the structure and one thing that they could improve upon. Thank you to all parents who were able to attend; your help was greatly appreciated. The children had a wonderful afternoon.
