This week, we have been looking at our number bonds to 20. We have used our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help us. For example: We know that 4 + 6 = 10 so 14 + 6 = 20. We know that 20 is ten more than 10 and so we have to make one of the numbers ten more. Ten more than 4 is 14. To help children recall their number bonds to 20 quickly they need to be secure in their knowledge of number bonds to 10.
We are starting the maths challenge after the half term. This is done in school on a Friday. The first challenge will be number bonds to 10. Children need to fluent in their number bonds to 10 and should be able to recall them without writing anything down for the maths challenge.
For the homework, we have set the challenge of number bonds to 10! Please choose one of the two challenges to complete for the first week back, after half term. Have fun!
