The Lyppard Grange Primary School Empowering children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life.

The Pebble in my Pocket!

This terms work began with us all receiving a very special gift. Every child was given a pebble, which came with instructions asking us to look after it but also to find out it's story. This made us ask lots of questions. We read the book 'Pebble in my Pocket' and were astounded to discover that our pebbles may well have been around at the same time as the dinosaurs!

We then spent the rest of the half term finding out all about where rocks come from. We used our scientific skills to help us to test rocks. We learnt all about Earthquakes, Volcanoes, soils and fossils. We also learnt about tectonic plates.

To help us to understand how rocks are formed we made out own out of chocolate and we also made our own fossils.

Some of us built a volcano and we watched it erupt.
