Dance

VISION -Being a Dancer at Lyppard Grange Primary School

At Lyppard Grange we want to instil a great love of dance, while inspiring self-confidence, discipline and respect for the performing arts. We believe that dance encourages pupils to develop creative thinking skills, express themselves, and build confidence unlocking their potential and preparing them for life beyond Lyppard Grange. We provide a safe place for children to navigate and cultivate their own artistic experiences - and through a comprehensive progression of skills as they move through school - develop their levels of dance artistry. Dance at Lyppard Grange is inclusive, all children can participate in dance, regardless of background, ability or disability. When our children express themselves through dance, they develop an awareness of their own capabilities and strengths, allowing them to design movement to suit their own style. Our inclusive provision inspires all children through a broad range of stimuli, styles and music and focuses on what pupils can do, as opposed to what they can’t. Through dance our core learning values are embedded: teamwork, curiosity, independence, perseverance, communication, courage and adaptability. We encourage all children to take on the roles of creator, performer, audience, critic and leader. Dance at Lyppard Grange shows children of all learning abilities a cultural form through which they can express their own identity and culture as well as experience cultures from around the world. We believe that participating in dance performance offers life-enhancing and memorable learning experiences for children. Therefore, at Lyppard Grange we provide our pupils with regular opportunities to build and showcase their performance skills, whether that be in class, performances and showcases for parents/carers or dance shares and performances in the wider community.

At Lyppard Grange Primary School, our dance curriculum is designed to be inclusive and progressive. We encourage all children, regardless of background or ability, to explore dance as creators, performers, audiences, critics, and leaders. Our curriculum ensures a clear progression of skills and knowledge.

We foster a secure and nurturing setting where children can explore and enhance their artistic journeys, engaging in dance lessons and after-school clubs that encourage their creative expression. Believing in the transformative power of dance, we offer regular opportunities for children to showcase their performance skills, whether in class, for parents, or in the wider community. Our goal is to create memorable learning experiences that enhance both dance proficiency and overall personal development.
