Today we are going to be looking at the area of rectilinear shapes. We will have a short lesson on this at 9am. Following the lesson, you need to watch the video called ‘Area of compound shapes’ and work through the questions within it.

Then you need to complete the Maths task below.

Theme

For our theme activity today, we would like you to create a word bank for your planet that you will be writing a fact file about. This word bank should contain powerful adjectives that describe the planet and you could even create some similes and metaphors.

We have attached a really useful video from National Geographic that takes you on a tour of our solar system to help you along with a word bank template.

Reading Task

As we are going to be looking at more non-fiction texts this term. We thought it would be beneficial to carry out some work around facts and opinions. This will help you when reading non-fiction texts as it will enable you to separate the key facts from a piece of text.

Below, we have attached a PowerPoint in PDF form to help you and have also attached a task for your level.
