The Lyppard Grange Primary School Empowering children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life.

Castles

The children were asked by Warwick Castle to create a non-fiction book as a class to teach people all about castles. The children started by learning lots of interesting facts to add to their book and continued researching and adding information to their book. They also sketched lots of images relating to their facts.

Throughout the theme, the children were tasked to make a clay tile. They explored and experimented with clay and then learnt how to roll a clay slab, roll a coil and then pressed into their tile with a variety of different tools. The children designed their clay tile, made it and then evaluated it. Each child created their clay tile where every tile tells their own individual story.

Once the children had finished their class book, we were then invited to take it to Warwick Castle. Whilst we were there we explored the castle. The children explored the features of the castle, visited the different rooms and even saw peacocks! The children showed wonderful perseverance and determination throughout the day. They were excellent ambassadors of Lyppard Grange.
