Friday 4th July 2025

Well done year 5 for completing another busy week of hard work, including a sunny day on the River Severn!

Year 5 – Homework due 15/07/25
In our R.E. ‘Racism’ unit, we’ve been discussing and opening our minds to equality and oppression. For our final lesson on Tuesday 15th July, we will be presenting information about key people through history who have stood up for equality and made an impact on world views. We would like you to find out information about 1 person from our list below and create a presentation – as creatively as you like! Make sure the information is accurate and
your presentation is engaging. (This doesn’t have to be on paper or a PowerPoint. It can be completed in any way you like.) Try to spend around 30 minutes on this task. Feel free to email digital copies to the office or bring in physical copies, they don’t need to be stuck in homework books.

People to research:
Martin Luther King, Anne Frank, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousufzai, Bhagat Puran Singh, Jess Benjamin, Rev Mpho Tutu Van Furth, Mahatma Gandhi or Asha Kowtal.

TTRS

We would also like you to continue to practice your times tables by using TTRS to polish up your knowledge. Practising little and often, whether this is at home, in the car or at the den, allows you to really embed your times tables knowledge, keep your memory of times tables solid, make you more confident when using your times tables in maths - and of course more confident for our maths challenge. Practising for 10-15 minutes a day would be our suggested time - beginning with Garage before moving onto a different TTRS game.

Reading

Please continue to read daily and record your reading in your reading journal. A minimum of 20 minutes daily would be our recommendation. Discussing the book with your family: likes, dislikes, any patterns and connections between this book and another text and any questions you have as a reader. If there are any words that are unfamiliar to you, please discuss them with your adults - or magpie them in a notebook for us to discuss in school.

Many thanks!

The year 5 team.
