Our Y3/4 children will be taking part in the ‘Big Sing’ at Worcester Arena on Wednesday 8th June. We’re afraid parents cannot join us for this event as the arena will be filled with children from schools across Worcester who are all gathering together to sing in unison about ‘Whole Earth’. 

If children would like to practise over the half term break, the lyrics and tracks of all four songs can be found in the Parents’ section of our website 

You should all have received information this week about our EYFS/KS1 Sports Day and/or Key Stage 2 Sports Day plus information about your child’s team colour. Please ensure your child has a t-shirt in the appropriate colour to wear on the day and also that you fill in the slip stating the lunchtime arrangements for your child. This will help to make the day run as smoothly as possible. 

We are in need of a handful of volunteers to support at each event. If you are able to offer an hour or two, please complete the form sent home with your child this week (also available to download as the 'We Need You' form in the 'Other Correspondence' section of the website). Thank you.

“We have challenged the children in Years 3 and 4 to become inventors, just like us. They have come up with some super ideas but are in need of some specific items to help them:   

üClean cardboard  boxes - shoe boxes, cereal packets, cereal bar boxes etc

üTubes from kitchen foil, wrapping paper etc

 × Plastic bottles, yogurt pots, jars and tins are not suitable

Please send them into school from Monday 23rd May so that the children can create their new inventions.

The Oldbury game was an altogether closer game although the final score-line does not reflect how close the game was. Lyppard were dominant in many areas of the pitch, particularly James who seemed to be everywhere, and had we taken our shooting boots with us, perhaps the outcome would have been different. Oldbury adopted a Leicester style approach, preferring to play counter-attacking football and we were caught out defensively a number of times. Final score, 5-1 to Oldbury.

Despite two heavy defeats, the team deserve huge credit – well done to Harry M; James R; Ellie G; Jacob P; Stevie M; Jamie K; Ciaran M; Eden G; George S; and Oscar V.

Also in action this week were the Y5/6 netball team.  Although they conceded defeat at the hands of Our Lady Queen of Peace’s netballers, they should be commended on their teamwork and their ability to keep to the rules and play with consideration and kindness to others. Well done to Anna H; Isabel S; Kaitlyn N; Megan E; Tara C; Ellen W; and Ananya G.

After a week of Y6 tests our Y5/6 children enjoyed being reunited as they spent a day together in Forest School this week. There was slight apprehension over the weather forecast, but everyone decided it wasn’t going to deter them from having a great day.

There were three activities; practising the skills they have learnt over the last six or seven years, which ranged from making mini beast habitats, climbing trees, building shelters, whittling, lashing sticks together and weaving.  There was also a challenge to work as teams to construct the tallest free standing structure (everyone wanting the tallest children on their team!). But the most talked about activity was, in teams of three, building a fire and learning the art of lighting with a flint and steel.  The determination on the children’s faces was wonderful; no-one being defeated by the flint and steel!  Once lit, they needed to build it up so they could toast their marshmallows before squashing them between chocolate digestives, which they ate accompanied by hot chocolate.

Staff reported what a lovely day had been had by all and that it had been a pleasure to be with the children all day as their behaviour was impeccable, they threw themselves fully into the activities planned and worked well together on team projects. Most wonderful though was the laughter and pride emanating from the children.

This year we have organised for our Year 6 leavers to purchase a Class of ’16 Hoody. Letters have been sent home regarding this, as well as an update on sizing by text message.
