Hi Year 6,
As we are sure you are all aware, it is the 75th anniversary of VE Day this week, on Friday 8th May. This year the government moved the May Day bank holiday to coincide with this important date, as they knew lots of people would want to organise big celebrations to mark this occasion and had we been at school we would have been having our own VE Day party this Thursday, at the end of our Lest We Forget Theme. Sadly, that cannot happen this year due to lock down, however, that doesn’t have to stop people marking the event in some way. In case you feel like having your own VE Day celebration at home, we have provided you with a selection of creative activities which could help your party go with a bang! This includes some craft ideas, music, decorations, games and recipes and you can do as many or as few as you wish.
We have also linked lots of your other activities to VE Day this week too. Please remember to just do what you can and don't worry at all if you don't manage to complete all of the activities. We know how hard it can be trying to fit everything in and as long as you are doing a little something every day to keep those brilliant brains of your working, then that is fine.
Miss Taylor and Mrs Groves have continued making telephone calls to you this week and have both enjoyed catching up with you all to hear about all of the fun, creative and relaxing things you have been up to. Please don’t worry if you haven’t been contacted yet - we will be making more telephone calls over the next few weeks and can’t wait to speak to you all!
We think about you all every day and look forward to seeing you all just as soon as we can,
Mrs Groves, Miss Taylor, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Robinson, Mrs Saul-Clayton and Mrs Brookes xxx
