KIRF and Times table Practise

The KIRF that we set you for homework last week (knowing and recalling pairs of numbers to 100) is a target to work on for the whole of this half term so try to practise this a little as well where you can.

Don't forget to learn your times table for next weeks challenge - when you get all 10 multiplication and all 10 of the division facts, that accompany them, correct (20/20) two weeks in a row you will move on to a new times table.

English

We have looked before at the picture below in our Reading lesson, think about the story that the picture is telling. We would then like you to look very carefully at the picture and make 5 lists.

Each list needs to contain at least 5 words but please add more if you can think of them. The lists are:

-Nouns (objects, people and places)

-Adjectives (describing word)

-Verbs (action word)

-Adverbs (describes how the verb is being done)

-Prepositions of place (where something is)

Sounds and Syllables

It is important that your child spends time learning the words given in this section of their homework as these words form part of the Statutory Spelling list for Year 3 and 4 and may well feature in future formal assessments.

They are also really useful words to know how to spell when writing.

Each week we are going to give you a five words from the Year 3/4 Statutory Spelling list, this is a list of spellings that you need to be able to spell accurately by the time you leave Year 4.

We need you to use your Sounds and Syllables techniques to Say the Word, Snip into syllables, Say the sounds and draw the sound lines and then check your spellings. As this will help you learn them.

Each week some spellings from the previous week will appear to ensure that you keep practising them, we have not made a mistake we are asking you to over learn words that you have already seen before.

We have included a Technique bookmark to remind you what to do and also a separate answer sheet for parents so that they can support you.

Please spend between 5 and 10 minutes every day having a go at this.
