Homework due Wednesday 25th September 2024

Maths Homework - Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs)

Each term we are asking you to master a set of Key Instant Recall Facts or KIRFS. You need to be able to recall these facts, as the title suggests, instantly. If you learn these each term it will make all Maths easier because you will have the facts at your finger tips.

This term the KIRFs are to be able to:

To know number bonds within 100.

Attached is an information sheet for parents with ideas as to how you can practise this skill.

You will also find some other activities to complete, this needs to be handed in ready to share by Wednesday 25th September 2024.

Your aim is to be able to recall the facts instantly by October Half term.

You will then be given a new KIRF in November.

You don’t need to print this off, you can just write the pair that fits with each of these number to give the total of 100, in your homework book.

Sounds and Syllables

It is important that your child spends time learning the words given in this section of their homework as these words form part of the Statutory Spelling list for Year 3 and 4 and may well feature in future formal assessments.

They are also really useful words to know how to spell when writing.

Each week we are going to give you a five words from the Year 3/4 Statutory Spelling list, this is a list of spellings that you need to be able to spell accurately by the time you leave Year 4.

We need you to use your Sounds and Syllables techniques to Say the Word, Snip into syllables, Say the sounds and draw the sound lines and then check your spellings. As this will help you learn them.

Each week some spellings from the previous week will appear to ensure that you keep practising them, we have not made a mistake we are asking you to over learn words that you have already seen before.

We have included a Technique bookmark to remind you what to do and also a separate answer sheet for parents so that they can support you.

Please spend between 5 and 10 minutes every day having a go at this.
