In their first league encounter of the season, the School football team faced a well organised Pitmaston Primary School on a very cold evening last week. Lyppard Grange stood strong against continued pressure from Pitmaston, avoided conceding a goal and went into the half time break deservedly on level terms. As the light faded rapidly in the second half so too did Lyppard's resilience, and Pitmaston scored twice in quick succession. Lyppard struggled to recover from these early strikes and Pitmaston bagged a further two goals to win the game 4-0. As they prepare for their next match, against Nunnery Wood in a week's time, Lyppard Grange will look to maintain the quality they show in the first half of each game, for the full 40 minutes. Despite the defeat, all concerned should be proud of their energy, effort and sportsmanship.
